Nabla has named Brian Manning as its new CEO, the company announced in a press release on Tuesday. Manning, who previously worked at health tech companies like Bamboo Health and Zocdoc, replaces Alex LeBrun, the company’s co-founder and former CEO.
Manning’s appointment is effective immediately, according to a spokesperson. He joins Nabla as the company looks to scale and expand its reach in the competitive AI scribe space.
LeBrun, who took on the chief executive position at AMI Labs earlier this year, will continue to serve at Nabla as executive chairman and chief AI officer. Manning previously worked as president and chief revenue officer at Bamboo Health, a health technology company that assists with care coordination and referrals.
He also served as chief revenue officer of care coordination tech firm PatientPing, which was acquired by Bamboo in 2021. Manning’s experience in the health tech industry is expected to help Nabla grow its customer base.
Nabla works with over 190 healthcare organizations, including CVS Health, M Health Fairview, and UCLA Health. The company raised a $70 million Series C round last year.

The appointment of Manning as CEO comes as AI has become one of the healthcare sector’s most sought-after technologies. AI scribes, or tools that record conversations with patients and draft clinical notes, have become more common in healthcare.
The field includes a number of companies offering documentation and clinical assistants, including technology giants like Microsoft and Amazon, and major electronic health record vendors Epic and Oracle Health. As demand for AI scribes continues to grow, Nabla is well-positioned to expand its reach in the market.
AI has the potential to alleviate workforce shortages and providers’ hefty burden of administrative tasks.
Nabla’s decision to appoint a new CEO with experience in the health tech industry may be seen as a strategic move to take advantage of the growing demand for AI scribes.
Nabla’s partnership with various healthcare organizations is a key factor in its success. They work with a wide range of organizations, from large health systems to smaller medical groups, which has helped them establish a strong presence in the market.
